About Region 5

The National Farmers Union is organized regionally. Each Region holds an annual convention where regional officers are elected and resolutions brought forward by members of the region are debated. Resolutions that are passed at the regional level are then debated and voted on at the annual National Convention. One board member from each region serves as the Regional Coordinator. Region 5 comprises the province of Manitoba.

NFU Manitoba advocates for food sovereignty, local food system resilience, Indigenous solidarity, thriving rural communities and more. Please connect with us by signing up for our newsletter, becoming a member, or joining one of our working groups.

Regenerative Approaches to Agricultural Policy & Governance

Building on our July gathering focused on regenerative agriculture, this month we explore possibilities for applying regenerative approaches to agricultural policy and governance.

Dana Penrice, from Holistic Management Canada, will join us to guide our discussion. She brings a wealth of knowledge that can help us explore how we might apply the principles of regenerative agriculture and holistic management to how we approach changing agricultural policy. She will also share about the work of Holistic Management Canada, the Savory Institute, and Savory’s network hubs.

Dana Penrice is committed to fostering thoughtful and innovative approaches to complex systems that shape our world. With a strong foundation from her work with Holistic Management Canada and the Human Venture Institute, Dana is passionate about helping people build resilience, resourcefulness, and adaptability. Her formal education in Animal Science (B.Sc., University of Alberta) has been enriched by her hands-on experiences in diverse environments, working with both people and nature. Dana believes in the potential for human systems to evolve and adapt for a more sustainable future.

Zoom Drop-ins are a crucial way to connect with the NFU-Manitoba community. Most of the event will be yours for open discussions, building connections among our members, and collective strategizing for action. We hope to see you there!
