The National Farmers Union is organized regionally. Each Region holds an annual convention where regional officers are elected and resolutions brought forward by members of the region are debated. Resolutions that are passed at the regional level are then debated and voted on at the annual National Convention. One board member from each region serves as the Regional Coordinator. Region 5 comprises the province of Manitoba.

Zoom Drop-in, Monday, June 23, 7:30 pm (CST)
Topic: Protecting Seeds From Industry Control
In May, the NFU in Manitoba reignited virtual, online gatherings to connect members. During these events, we welcomed farmers and land-care enthusiasts, Jeff Stoeze and Jim Sackrider, who shared inspiring CSA and permaculture projects. We also sparked the resurgence of our small-scale meat production working group. As summer approaches, we’re shifting to monthly Zoom gatherings, but these drop-ins remain a crucial way to connect with our community. This month, we’ll dive into the topic of protecting seeds from industry control, featuring a 10-minute talk by NFU Director of Research and Policy, Cathy Holtslander, on June 23rd (Monday), from 7:30 – 8:30 pm. The rest of the time is yours for open discussions, building connections among our members, and collective strategizing for action. We hope to see you there!
