National Farmers Union officials elected and re-affirmed at 2024 National Convention
SASKATOON, SK—Over the weekend, in Saskatoon, the NFU concluded its annual National Convention. Over a three-day period, NFU delegates from across the country filled positions for NFU presidents and vice-presidents. Every NFU national official is up for election every year at Convention.
Commenting on his new position and the year ahead, Phil Mount, the NFU’s new VP of Policy, said that “It is a great honour and challenge to be asked to help steer this organization on behalf of our farmer members. All of us who assumed leadership positions at this Convention are sensitive to the responsibilities we’ve assumed, as Canada’s farms face the challenge of responding to threats and impacts from climate change, rising costs, corporate consolidation and power, and governments often inadequately mindful of the difficulties and perils of farming.”
