Unearthing Stories of Food Justice: Films and Conversations About Farming, Food Sovereignty, and Art

Join us on Tuesday March 26th at the Malvern Library in Scarborough, ON from 6:00pm to 8:00pm EST! This casual event will be a great opportunity to learn more about farming, food sovereignty, and storytelling. Be inspired by 3 films about BIPOC farmers across Canada featured in the National Farmers Union Depth of Field project, followed by a panel about how food and art can help us connect to home and imagine new and better futures.

Come meet some of the farmers from Malvern Urban Farm, as well as Sun, a local artist participating in FoodShare’s Toronto Food Stories program.

Don’t miss out on this incredible event! Mark your calendars and join us at Malvern Library at 30 Sewells Road in Scarborough, ON. See you there!

Admission is Pay-What-You-Can. Donations collected will support Malvern Family Resource Centre’s food justice initiatives this summer.

Depth of Field: Films About Farming

Depth of Field is a series of 40 short documentaries produced and presented by the National Farmers Union and March Forth Creative. The films showcase Canadian farmers and farm workers, and their sustainable farming practices on and off the land. Rotational grazing, seed saving, building healthy soils, and working for social justice– different farmers highlight their own priorities and, together, these films tell the story of farming practices that would create the food system we all want.
