Join us on Monday, March 25th, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm at Ritchie Community League Hall in Edmonton, AB for the relaunch of New Grocery Movements Garden Club and film screenings from Depth of Field, followed by a panel discussion hosted by NGM’s Rebecca MacLeod. Stick around for mingling, learning and refreshments!
Don’t miss an evening celebrating farmers and gardeners alike with New Grocery Movement (NGM)! NGM is a Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities to reimagine groceries and build food sovereignty through education, connection and collaboration.
This season, they will be relaunching their Garden Club in a new community garden in the Ritchie neighborhood. It’s an initiative to help more people get started on growing their own food by providing the tools, the seeds, the space and the knowledge to begin gardening.
To celebrate this relaunch, NGM will be hosting a film screening of a selection of the National Farmers Union’s newly released short film series, Depth of Field, which profiles farmers across the country. Two of the Alberta-based farmers showcased in the films will be joined by Caitlyn from the local farm, Good Thymes Garden, for a farmer speaking panel between the films. NGM’s Rebecca MacLeod will be facilitating an exciting discussion with the farmers about local food, sustainability and their farming experiences.
We are thrilled to share the evening with a number of special guests. A collection of incredible food organizations in Edmonton are invited, so make sure to stop by their tables and learn about the wonderful opportunities to get involved in Edmonton’s food community as you mingle between films.
Edmonton’s own Sip Liquor and Garneau Block will also be on scene with Alberta-made drinks and natural wines. And of course, there will be pie! NGM will be accepting donations to help support the Garden Club this season – any amount is appreciated. Blueberry and apple pie slices will be available for donation via cash and Sip will be accepting donations via card on our behalf.
