It is a great honour to invite not only our fellow Islanders (District 1), our Acadian Family (District 2) but now officially our Schooner brothers and sisters as a newly minted District 3! We invite you all to attend the 2023 Region 1 Convention in central PEI on August 12th and 13th, 2023. On Saturday the 12th we will be having a biochar workshop on Sweet Pea farm (2209, Byrnes road, Morell, PEI) at 3pm followed by a potluck on the farm. On Sunday the 13th we will have our convention at 1pm-5pm at the Milton Community Hall Centre. The convention will also be covered on zoom for those who can’t make it in person (find information below). 

Our Region 1 Convention will cover the new SCAP Funding programs; a national update from NFU President,  Jenn Pfenning; and a discussion on land issues such as our ongoing farmland loss and alternative land access and succession strategies. Please refer to this page for an up to date agenda.

Resolutions form the foundation of our policy and guide our work throughout the year. Send your resolutions to nfu.pei.office@gmail.com. 

We encourage all members to attend this regional convention. Your participation and input are important in our  discussions and will provide direction for our region.

Chers membres de l’UNF Région 1 :  

C’est un grand honneur pour moi d’inviter non seulement mes chers insulaires (District 1), ma famille acadienne (District 2), mais aussi officiellement nos frères et sœurs néo-écossais du District 3 ! Nous vous invitons tous à participer au congrès de la Région 1 les 12 et 13 août 2023. Le samedi 12, nous aurons un atelier sur le biochar à la ferme Sweet Pea à 15 h, suivi d’un repas-partagé à la ferme. Le dimanche 13, nous tiendrons notre congrès de 13 h à 17 h au centre communautaire de Milton Hall. Le congrès sera également couvert sur zoom pour ceux qui ne peuvent pas venir en personne.

Le congrès de la région 1 couvrira les nouveaux programmes de financement PAC durable; une mise à jour nationale de la présidente de l’UNF, Jenn Pfenning; et une discussion sur les questions foncières telles que la perte continue de terres agricoles et les stratégies alternatives d’accès aux terres et de succession.
