Did you know that farm workers in Ontario and Saskatchewan have no guaranteed minimum wage or rest periods? Farm workers are the backbone of Canada’s multibillion-dollar agricultural industry, but many of us encounter a number of hazards during our workday. Farm workers risk serious injury handling pesticides, working in extreme weather, and performing strenuous physical labour. On top of taking on these risks, across Canada farm workers are denied basic labour protections like minimum wage, daily or weekly rest periods, additional overtime compensation, notice of termination, minimum hours of work, among others.
