Did you know that farm workers in Ontario and Saskatchewan have no guaranteed minimum wage or rest periods? Farm workers are the backbone of Canada’s multibillion-dollar agricultural industry, but many of us encounter a number of hazards during our workday. Farm workers risk serious injury handling pesticides, working in extreme weather, and performing strenuous physical labour. On top of taking on these risks, across Canada farm workers are denied basic labour protections like minimum wage, daily or weekly rest periods, additional overtime compensation, notice of termination, minimum hours of work, among others. 

This workshop will help you answer questions like:

• What happens if I get injured at work?
• Does my boss have to let me take a break during the workday?
• What is the provincial legal minimum wage for the work I do?
• And, who can help me if I think my rights have been violated? 

On Monday, February 6th at 4pm PST / 5pm MST / 6pm CST / 7 EST / 8pm AST come and meet your fellow farm workers from across the country, learn about your rights and responsibilities as a farm worker, and join the movement to build justice for workers in our food systems!
