Were you impacted by natural disasters this season? Supply chain issues? Still scrambling after receiving aid or having difficulty accessing it?

The NFU Region 8 (BC & Yukon) wants to talk with farmers and farmworkers about effective disaster recovery and hear about your experiences this year. On March 2nd, we are hosting a Region 8 Disaster Response Kitchen Table event, where you can learn with us how disaster response is structured elsewhere in the world to protect farmers and food systems, and then share with us what supports were helpful this year, what was missing, and what will be necessary in the future as disasters intensify.

At 2021 National Convention, the NFU membership passed a formal resolution to press provincial and federal governments to legislate agriculture-specific plans for the emergency management of compound natural disasters. Your participation in this Kitchen Table will directly feed into the NFU’s ongoing process to develop this policy proposal.
