SUMMARY:Advance Payments Program
DESCRIPTION:The Advance Payments Program is a federal loan guarantee program which provides agricultural producers with easy access to low-cost cash advances.\n\nUnder the program\, you can access up to $1\,000\,000 in total advances based on the value of the eligible agricultural products you will produce or that you have in storage. The Government of Canada pays the interest on the first $100\,000 of your advance (the first $250\,000 for 2024 and 2025). You repay your advance as you sell the agricultural products\, with up to 18 months to fully repay the advance for most commodities (up to 24 months for cattle and bison).\n\nAPP advances can provide you with cash flow to meet your financial needs until you are able to sell your agricultural products. The program can provide marketing flexibility by allowing you to sell your agricultural products based on market conditions rather than the need for cash.\n\nAPP advances are available through 26 participating producer organizations\, that is\, APP Administrators\, across Canada.

SUMMARY:Indigenous Seedkeeper Practices
DESCRIPTION:Curious to learn how to harvest seeds from your garden? This workshop will provide you with teachings and techniques to save seeds from your veggies\, herbs\, and garden fruits\, with a special focus on the three sisters. Attendees will be introduced to some key information about wet seed harvesting and dry seed harvesting\, cleaning and drying seeds\, best practices to store seeds\, and tips on keeping a seed inventory. We will cover key terms and concepts and share some brilliant ancestral science. Whether you are growing at a big or small scale and in rural or urban spaces\, there will be something for everyone! This workshop is intended for folks who have some existing knowledge about gardening (this workshop will not be teaching about how to grow). Participants will gain foundational knowledge to harvest and store seeds to strengthen their seed keeper learning journeys. \nThis is an Indigenous-only hybrid event with 25 in-person registration spots and 75 live stream attendance spots (priority access to Manitoba residents). Attendance is free. In-person attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an end-of-event seed\, food\, and medicine exchange.
