The event is designed to "investigate the impacts of industrial-scale pork production and processing across Canada and the U.S. Great Plains states and the potential impact of the Maple Leaf hog processing plant in Brandon." It will also "lay the groundwork for community monitoring and research and for a Prairie Canada - U.S. Great Plains Hog Action Network."
