Canadians Must Stay Strong Against TransCanada Energy East Pipeline

Posted by Ayla Fenton on June 23, 2015

by Ben Gotschall, Rancher and Energy Director with Bold Nebraska
The NFU was a co-sponsor of the Energy East tour across the prairies this spring.  A shortened version of this article by Nebraska Rancher, Ben Gotschall, one of the speakers on the tour, appears in the Summer Issue of the Union Farmer Quarterly.
I am first and foremost a rancher. However, I am now also an anti-pipeline activist. I was 10 years old when I started my own herd of cattle on my family's ranch in Nebraska. I learned early on from our 75-year history of ranching about the value of hard work. I learned the value of our land and water that sustains our herd and our family.

Dear Premier Clark:
The National Farmers Union (NFU) is deeply concerned about the changes to the Agricultural Land Commission Act that your government is proposing through BILL 24, the AGRICULTURAL LAND COMMISSION AMENDMENT ACT, 2014. We have prepared the following brief which we urge you to consider before taking any further steps to change BC’s farmland protection legislation.
The NFU represents thousands of farm members in Canada, from coast to coast.
